Bonnie brings over 20 years of experience in acquired brain injury, mental health, and substance use, having worked at all levels of care. Her expertise spans private rehabilitation facilities, community frontline work in life skills, case management, and counselling. Bonnie holds a Diploma in Criminal and Social Justice, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Post-Degree Diploma in Psychotherapy, and a Post-Degree Certificate in Youth and Family Counselling. She is licensed and registered in good standing with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Bonnie is also an approved service provider with the First Nations Health Authority.

Bonnie's lifelong dream of offering clinical mental health support through an outside-the-box approach began to take shape during the pandemic in 2020. Recognizing the need for a different model of care for youth and families, Bonnie sought to move beyond traditional office-based therapy. Growing up riding horses and competing, she knew firsthand the immense mental health benefits of working with horses. She combined her life-long equine experiences with her professional education and skills to create Peace Equine Connections and Psychotherapy Services.

Bonnie deeply believes that mental health care is not a one-size-fits-all approach. She is passionate about equine-assisted therapies and the profound healing power horses can provide. Bonnie offers a range of services including one-on-one equine therapy, group equine-assisted psychotherapy, group equine-assisted learning, and virtual youth counselling.

Bonnie is immensely grateful for her team of humans and horses who work alongside her, and for the positive impact they continue to have in the community.
